Brother Rabbit and Christmas

I had a lot of fun with this one. I like Brother Rabbit because he's so easy and fun and creepy to draw. Expect to see more of him.

And yes, the header is making fun of the yogi bear poster.

I kind of want to make "HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS OR ELSE" Brother Rabbit Greeting cards, but I'm not sure who would buy them. Maybe when he gets a larger following.

What do you guys think? Too creepy?

The return of Brother Coon

It's the return of Brother Coon! I really want to bring these guys back because I love the style and creepiness, but I'm totally lost as to what the story should be.

Brother Rabbit and Brother Coon Part 4

Here's the startling conclusion! I rather enjoyed this exercise. This page I don't think is as good as the previous ones, but I like the grid of panels with similar but progressively changing shots.

Overall, I noticed that I had a pattern of doing a grid of panels, then a borderless splash at the bottom. I'm not sure if that's good for creating a pattern or bad for being not so original.

Y'know, looking at the story, you'd think that if there were "hundreds" of frogs down there, they'd have the smarts to gang up and tackle him or something. Hmmmmm. maybe this needs an extra page. Perhaps if I'm not too busy and can't think of anything else to draw tomorrow.

Brother Rabbit and Brother Coon Part 3

Here's part 3 of the epic tale of Brother Rabbit and Brother Coon. I'm not sure how well the last three panels with the frogs digging the sand away from Brother Coon's body work, but I think panel three of the frogs with Brother Coon's body in the background is my favorite panel in the series. I also really like Brother Coon being entirely blacked out except for the mouth, I'd like to think that's how the frogs view him.

Here's part 2 of "Brother Rabbit, Brother Coon, and the Frogs." I have to say I really really like this. It took a little longer than most daily comics, but I really enjoyed trying to make the visuals as creepy as possible. Although sometimes I think it turns out cute. Curses.

Brother Rabbit and Brother Coon Part 1

I know I haven't put up a comic in a couple of days, but that's only because I've been working on this! It's based on a homework assignment I found in the book "Drawing Words and Writing Pictures" (which is very informative on creating comics). The assignment is to create a comic based on the old African American folktale "Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Coon, and the frogs." So obviously, I tried to make it look as creepy as possible. This is part 1 of a 4 part mini series. So hopefully I'll have the next one up by tomorrow and the next 2 by next week.

penguin and frog

For those of you wondering about my sanity, well you should know better by now. But anyways, I actually was planning the usual boring comic about me doing crap, but it was a bleah idea and I didn't like the designs and after awhile I said fuck it I'm drawing a penguin with a mohawk. SO there.

I think I like this more. This is turning into something tedious that I barely start doing 11 at night instead of something inventive and fun and explorational. Well at least I spelled Penguin right.
