Rickety PI character designs

Hey it's Monday and I got something special I wanna share!

Character designs for my comic pitch, Rickety Rat: Toon PI! Here's Rickety, the main character. Washed-up toon star and Private detective!

And Jake, his silent partner!

And finally Lippy, his agent!

I'm still wondering whether I should do it in color or not. I really like the black and white look, it fits, and it would take less time, but color would probably draw more people in. I'll do more tests and sketches in the future.

That's it for today. As always, if you like my work, consider giving to my Patreon, or buying something on my Etsy, buying my comics on Gumroad or Comixology, or even asking for a commission!

  1. I think if you identify a primary target audience it might help with the decision to go color or not. The noir b+w angle would definitely draw a specific audience, but like you said, the color would definitely be more of a pull. Are you trying to do a mass appeal book for adults and kids or are you trusting to the muse that led you to the noir genre in the first place and hoping for a cult following? And who is this chick lippy, is she an animal or an actual human being? What happened to the jew duck?
