Haywire poster

I've been working on this illustrated Haywire poster on and off for 2 weeks for my review. It's finally finished! In retrospect, it was WAY more work that I thought it would be, and I definitely should have planned it out better.

I also wanted to show the different stages I went through in creating it. More after the jump!

Complaining about action figures

Hey this has nothing to do with art. I just wanted to go on a random rant about this Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern action figure I won from a contest(not trying to rub it in anyone's face, it's just one of the major sticking points for me keeping it). I finally decided to keep it and play around with it.

Purple Boy and Turquoise Girl

Hmm, I haven't done a comic in awhile. Still doing other stuff. Other stuff like this! This is Purple Boy and Turquoise Girl! They're a couple. A couple of weirdos! I actually got this idea from seeing an actual young couple on the subway of a guy who was wearing purple and a girl who was wearing turquoise. I just wanted to do a dramaless comic with a couple who act like idiots together. So, perhaps expect something of that nature in the near future.

Also other stuff, I have a new blog! It's called Sketched Screenings and it's movie reviews and I sketch stuff and you should totally check it out and follow the crap out of it.

Also also other stuff, it's snowing! But that doesn't have any real affect on my art or your view of it. DOES IT?!

Also also also other stuff, I'm teaching myself after effects this week so I can make kick ass titles and videos like on Bad Universe! The show is utter bullpoop but I enjoy how they use the After Effects in the cartoon segments.

The guy's all like, "Could this happen? Who knows! Maybe!" but then the after effects promos are all like SHOOOM WHAAA GROOOMP and I'm happy. The problem with after effects for me is that it's not really a program, even if I know how to use it, that I can just pick up and make awesome videos with, I have to have a set idea and storyboards and finished artwork. So there may or may not be an awesome AE video later this week.

P.S. also also also, I've decided to do 14 days of Brother Rabbit Single Awareness Day Greeting cards! I actually have just enough. Expect that to begin next week.

Birthday Splat

Seriously, sure he's the unholy child of Satan, but what's he going to do with suicide? That's definately one of those gifts that's fun for five minutes, and then you go back to playing with real toys.

ALso, I do really want the new spiderman game.

hipster zombie?!

I was in the grocery store and I just burst out laughing when I randomly thought of this (Yeah, that's how I come up with ideas, I'll just be walking around normally then hysterically burst into laughter for no reason). I really want to make a whole blog dedicated to cartoons like this, but I'm not sure if I could come up with that many ideas or if it would be entertaining enough for people to waste their precious internet time on.

Also zombie related, has anyone seen this? And is it terribly good or just terrible?

Quentin Tarantino and Inglorious Basterds

This one is totally accurate. Y'know, even I went into this knowing there's going to be a lot of dialogue and very little action, but after watching it...man. There's a lot of dialogue with very little action. I'm pretty sure all the action in the trailer was the exact amount of action in the entire movie.

Ok, I think I got it all out of my system. I now declare Quentin Tarantino week over! New Dumgens & Draggins© tomorrow!

Quentin Tarantino: King of Anti-Climacticism 2

Y'know, I really do enjoy most Quentin Tarantino films, and I did really like the first Kill Bill for reference. And I also realize that she pulled a knife out of the cereal first(Is that the secret prize they put in Frosted Flakes these days?!) but it's still anti-dramatic. And not to say that being anti-dramatic is a bad thing all the time either, it's just that's his thing. That's why two of his first films, Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction were so good, BECAUSE they were anti-climatic.

I'm just saying, hail to the king of anti-climacticism baby.

Man, that was a really bad movie. I did hear someone almost clap. I could rant about that all night long.

So I will!

I read all of the reviews and I knew it would be bad, but nothing could have prepared me for the horrendous pile that was this movie. And no one mentioned they intentionally mispronounced the names! Honestly, what's the reasoning behind that? It's not like they didn't know the correct pronunciation as if it were adapted from a book, and what would they have to gain from changing it? As if the mainstream audience wouldn't except his name is pronounced Aang? All they're doing is further pissing off the already built in fanbase of the show.

"Ong"? Seriously? In what language would aa make an "o" sound? I think that's what hurt the most. It's so simple and yet stings so much. It's like someone you just met mispronounces your name after you say it to them. I was waiting for someone to walk up to the little bald kid and go, "Hey, it's pronounced AANG bitch."

And speaking strictly from a movie standpoint, the storytelling was poor, the writing and dialogue were terrible, and the action sequences were just wasteful. It felt like he was trying to be Zack Snyder but failed.

But why should I have all the fun of dissing the movie. What did you hate most about it?
