Monday Round-Up 9/14: Cap and Iron Patriot, Spider-Duck, and Fancy Cyber Suits

Oh hey it's Monday and I haven't done a blogpost in awhile because I've been busy with stuff so here's a blogpost with stuff
Here's a fan cover for a comic book I want to be in existence: Captain America and Iron Patriot! Mostly because I really liked Iron Patriot as a comic and miss it. I have a lot of comics I want to be a thing so expect more of these soon. More after the jump!

Howard the Duck as Spider-Duck! Howard the Duck is a good comic you should read.
Here's a rough Samus! I'll probably clean this up and color it. I'm going to clean up a lot of the rough sketches I've done and turn them into a sketchbook for patrons of my Patreon so if you'd like to see the finished version of this int he future, maybe consider contributing to my Patreon!
An Early sketch I did of Samus because I've never drawn her armor before
Drew some troopers that are totes from Star Wars for Force Friday
Batman!

And here are some Corgis I was practicing drawing

Also some sketches from figure drawing:

Last week I had a new Evil Employee! Check him out!

Well that's it for this week. As always, if you like my work, consider giving to my Patreon, or buying something on my Etsy, or even asking for a commission! See you next week!

Monday Sketch update 7/28

You may have noticed some differences in the blog. I'm slowly updating this and my portfolio site. Anyways, here are some sketches!
I drew a Batman for Batman day last week!

SUPER into Jessica Drew Spider-Woman as PI. I seriously want to write and draw this book. More sketches after the jump!
 I don't know why I don't draw more Punisher.

You know Ms. Marvel is a kickass comic, right?

 Another Batman!

Also super into Miss America Chavez and the Young Avengers.

And she's just a badass punk girl.

Also I drew this silly thing after listening to the latest Rachel and Miles Xplain the X-Men. It's a really great podcast!

Also also I did these comics based on a model in class for a thing and I thought they were pretty interesting.

Last week, I had two new One-Hour One-Shots on Dime-Store Noir! Check out Got a Light? and You'll Never get away with this!
And on Sketched Screenings, I reviewed Escape from Tomorrow and SEX, neither of which turned out very good. Go read them to find out why!

More stuff to come next week! See you then!

supers and animatics

Hey there! Since I've been super busy, last week I took pretty easy, so not much to show. But I do have a couple of things:

If you saw the Brother Rabbit animation last week, here is the animatic! I stuck pretty close to it.

Also last week, I had reviews of Batman/Superman: Apocalypse and Robot Combat League.  The Batman/Superman illustrations took a while and I thought they came out pretty nicely:

Also, I had TWO NEW Dime-Store Noir pages up from The Big Grief! It's ending in a few weeks, and I'm excited for the ending. And also for it to be over so I can start on a new story. Man these 24 pagers are MURDER hahaha noir comic humor.

Save the butts, save the world

Hey guys! It's late and I'm tired so here is a sketch dump!

I've finally figured out the face of my heroine.  Bottom left!

This is a preview for my 8-page comic that I should be done with in around 5 weeks. Oh butts.

Anyways, I've been trying out different inking techniques to figure out how exactly I'm going to ink it.

I think I'm going with the ink and wash on the right. Butts butts butts. FIERCE buts.

I did this also while practicing inking. It's of a facebook friend. maybe I will post it on facebook. maybe.

I was considering making the heroine's design more extreme, but I think I like how it is.  The guy on the left however I LOVE. He's going in exactly like that.

This comic will also have superheroes looking at resumes disapprovingly. This entertains me greatly.
And finally some random designs for Ivy an Joker because of reasons.  Full disclosure, if I were ever put  in charge of a Batman movie, I would make Christina Hendricks Posion Ivy. Perhaps I will continue these and ink them. PERHAPS.

I've been falling behind on Sketched Screenings.  I will get on that soon, mostly because I want to make super-special posters involving Spider-Man.

Also also, I got an internship! Making Comics! It's with a cool company called Greening Forward. You should check them out. I still have more gesture drawings from class but I will scan those in tomorrow.

Goodnight all.

Catwoman Storyboards 1

Hey! I have storyboards from storyboarding class! Well roughs.  The assignment was to take 1 minute from a song and board a story to the words, so I of course took the first part of Abba's Money Money Money and storyboarded a story of Catwoman robbing a jewelry store.  The obvious choice would have been to do "Mama Mia" with Batman and Joker but this just turned out better(not that I'm putting that out of my mind!).  Here are some character designs for Selina and the storyboard roughs!

Dark Knight and Moon Knight

So last week I finished an illustration I've been working on and off since December:

It's my submission to Relaunched!, though I don't know when or if they're going to showcase it, so I'm posting it here now. I don't love the background, but I don't hate it. Also, man stuff in illustrator takes forever!

Synopsis:
With Gotham quieting down, Bruce Wayne takes Wayne industries to New York for a short stint so Batman can clean up the mean streets of New York! Little did he know that it already had a white knight protector, the Moon Knight! As both heroes and men of intrigue, with the same goals in mind, they decide to  team up to fight crime together as The Dark Knight and the Moon Knight!

In this premiere double-blotch issue, they must investigate the strange and gruesome deaths of...criminals?!  Some masked vigilante known as "Rorschach" is going around murdering thieves, crooks and killers in cold blood!  Can they work together to stop this maniac? And should they?

AI are suicide bombers

Oh hey, I wanted to do something a little different.  I wrote a blogpost about videogames!

You ever play a fighter or shooter, something where your player character has to go up aginst a large number of enemies, he picks them all off, there's only one or two left, and you wonder why they still come at you? Even after you've just decimated their whole squad?  For example in every Batman game, every thug will run at you with whatever he has in his hands, even though he knows this is the Batman and and he's beat up thousands of thugs. Or take any shooter, you've taken out 20 squad guys, but that last guy still thinks he can take you on.
I'm sure that guy with the TV is just trying to get better reception.
Doesn't this seem weird and out of place? It doesn't make sense in the context of the real world, does it?  Sure for a few cases it can be explained that these are all mindless monsters or robots, or hardened soldiers who are all willing to die for their cause, but for most people, common sense would dictate you run the hell away, right?

That's because in the real world, humans are genially programmed to survive. Unless they're all elite squad commandos ready to die for their squad, or some sort of religious fanatic who would rather die for the cause, the logical response to seeing 20 guys taken out is to run and/or hide. That's because we have lives, we have other things to do other than fight, we have other reasons that we're fighting for, and we have a base need to survive, whatever the cost.  Some cases would dictate that the best way to survive would be to fight, but other cases would dictate the best way would be to run away.

Game AI are not built like that. They don't have lives or any outside functions, and they're programmed only to fight.  Their only function in life is to kill the player, they have no other greater purpose or dreams or desires.  They are kamikazes. They are not programmed to care whether they live or die in any given situation.  And in some cases, as in with respawnable monsters or lego people who are all virtually indestructible, they have no reason to care.
This is a thing that happened. If lego people are indestructible, how did Batman's parents die?
Game developers may find this is pretty self explanatory, but think about what this means and what we can do with this. What if we made AI that was programmed to survive? What would that mean? Would they get stronger or more fierce if they were cornered and alone instead of with their group? Could the player scare them all off by taking out one guy really brutally? Maybe if the player killed the majority of enemies, the last one would go "oh shit!" and book it, never to be seen again? Think about how we could make games more realistic and change the player experience.  What then would the player do when faced with an enemy who runs away? Would they give chase or let them go? How would that impact the rest of the game or the personality of the player's character?

Just some things to think about.

Burly guys and fat kids

Hey it's the first post of the the New Year! I've finally got some new sketches too!

I love this cartoony version of Batman. Because this is "The Goddamned Batman". He is, as my mom would say, built like a refrigerator.
And Moon Knight! He is like Batman but with multiple personalities and a white hoodie. Why does he wear a bright white hoodie in the middle of the night? Because he just DOES NOT GIVE A FUCK.  I'm doing designs of these two for something I'm working on that will hopefully be really super awesome.
And these are designs for a hero for my dad's Birthday card.
I just hate greeting cards with a fiery passion, so I try to make them as close to comics as possible. He enjoyed it.

Also a lady and a runner. I think this was Winona Ryder.  ANd I may use this runner in an upcoming 2D animation because I AM SO GETTNG BACK INTO ANIMATION. Man, you guys don't even know. Also, I did a review of Young Adult over at Sketched Screenings! Check that out.
